The latest 2015-16 Australia Skilled Occupation List (SOL) for independent skilled migration applicants was released earlier this month. Changes to the SOL will effect applications from 1 July 2015 and applies to Skilled Migration, Family Sponsored visa applications and Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa applicants in the Graduate work stream.
Key changes to the SOL include the addition of panelbeaters and cabinetmakers as well as the removal of urban and regional planners, dentists and dental specialists.
With specific reference to South Australia, the following highlights of the newly released occupation list and refined nomination requirements were also observed:
- • There are 175 occupations on the revised main list from a range of industries including: ICT, health, construction and hospitality, as well as managerial occupations.
- • Many occupations in the ICT and financial fields remain on the main occupation list.
- • The occupation list now provides two English language options for each example (Competent Plus English in each score or Proficient overall OR Proficient in each score or Proficient Plus overall)
- • Applicants who have 80 points or higher (including state nomination points) on the points test can gain access to the
Supplementary Skilled List (SSL) and occupations on the main list where special conditions apply.
Planning levels and quotas apply to nominations, once these have been reached, access to these occupations may be closed or further requirements may apply.
