The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) recently reported that the Skilled Nomination visa places are very close to being filled for the 2014-15 migration programme year.
The Migration Programme determines the amount of visas that can be granted within a specific period of time, and takes into account factors such as net overseas migration, economic demographic and labour market trends.
Early in 2014, it was announced by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection that the Migration Programme planning levels would be set at 190 000 places, with 128 550 places reserved for the skilled migration stream, of which 28 850 places made up the skilled nominated category. Places are now limited for this visa category which may affect applications for the remainder of the programme year.
What does this mean for you?
Applications for this visa will still be processed for now, however it could take longer than anticipated. Once the remaining places are filled, the Department cannot grant further visas in this category during this programme year.
