Finally There’s an Alternative to IELTS!

Up until now people who are not native English speakers had to write an IELTS exam in order to qualify for an Australian visa. This is to prove that you’re competent enough to function in Australia, a country whose only official language is English. This will all be changing on 23 November 2014.

The Australian government will soon be accepting the Pearson PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English Academic) and TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test) as an accurate measure of your ability. Both these tests can be taken online at various testing centres in South Africa.

The Pearson PTE Academic can be taken in Johannesburg and Cape Town and the TOEFL iBT in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban and as always, the IELTS can still be taken in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.

As skills assessing bodies have their own English requirements, we suggest you find out which test would be most applicable to you in order to avoid the disappointment of unnecessarily having to pay for and sit more than one exam.

Please contact us to discuss what your English requirements are and how we can get you to Australia as soon as possible!
